I am a TA for a class. May I reserve a study room for holding my weekly office hours?

Answer

Our individual study rooms are first come, first served basis, and our group study rooms are intended for use by groups of two or more students. The group study rooms are locked, and a key can be obtained by inquiring at the Folsom Library Service Desk, and providing the ID's of the students who will be using the space. As long as you have two or more people in your group, you may obtain a key to a group study room, as long as a group study room is available.

For the purposes of holding weekly office hours, I would suggest that you find a spot in the Folsom library on the first or second floors, and let students know where to look for you. The first and second floor are considered collaboration areas, and you can carry on conversations at a normal volume without worrying about bothering others around you.

You are welcome to use a white board, or display a small sign on the table to help students locate you. We have dry erase markers and erasers available at the Service Desk.

If you are not able to find a free spot, and you have a student turn up for your office hours, you can visit the Service Desk and ask if there are any group study rooms available for use.
